What is the Big Figure?

Big Figure Definition - A term often used by forex traders to abbreviate the prevailing quote figures for a currency pair such that the first three figures of the quote, the Big Figure, are dropped and the remaining figures communicate the actual quote. Occasionally, the stem, or whole dollar price, of a quote is all that is dropped. For example, a Yen quote may be 112.082/84. In this case the Big Figure is 112. Similarly, for a Euro quote of 1.2750/52, the Big Figure is 1.27. The Big Figure is often dropped such that this price may be verbally quoted as "50/52" by forex brokers. Also, in the United States, the Big Figure is often referred to as the Handle.

Risk Statement: Trading Foreign Exchange on margin carries a high level of risk and may not be suitable for all investors. The possibility exists that you could lose more than your initial deposit. The high degree of leverage can work against you as well as for you.
