What’s happening next week in the forex markets? A round-up

The week is coming to a close, which means that it’s time to look ahead to what’s happening over the course of the next week.

Monday morning, there will be a range of Japanese economic indicators released early on in the day. The Japanese coincident index will be out at 5am covering June. This was last recorded at 100.4.

The country’s leading economic index for June will also be out at 5am GMT and was last recorded at 93.3.

German business climate data for August will be out at 8am GMT. This is expected to show a change from 95.7 to 97.1.

Over in the US, the day will begin with the Chicago Federal Reserve’s National Activity Index for July, which is due out at 12.30pm GMT. This was last recorded at -0.02.

Durable goods orders for July will be out at 12.30pm GMT. This is expected to show a change from 1.9% to 1%.

It’s a key day for regional branches of the Federal Reserve. The Dallas Fed is due to release its manufacturing business index for August at 2.30pm GMT. This was last recorded at -6.3.

The day will be rounded off by Japanese large retailers’ sales figures for the month of July, which will be out at 11.50pm GMT. These were last recorded at -0.5%.

Looking ahead to Tuesday, Germany will start the day with a series of gross domestic product releases at 6am GMT. This will cover the second quarter of 2019, and was last recorded year on year at 0%. Quarter on quarter figures will also be released. These were last recorded at -0.1%.

French consumer confidence figures for August will be out at 6.45am GMT. This is expected to go down from 102 to 101.

French business climate data for the same month will also be out then. This was last recorded at 101.

Overall US consumer confidence data will come out at 2pm GMT.

The Richmond Federal Reserve’s manufacturing index will come out at 2pm GMT, covering August. This was last recorded at -12.

On Wednesday, Australian construction work done data will be released covering the second quarter. This was last recorded at -1.9%.

Italian consumer confidence data for August will be out at 8am GMT. This was last recorded at 113.4 and will go down to 109.6, perhaps in a sign of ongoing worries over the political situation in the country which continues to be volatile.

Japanese foreign investment will be out at 11.50pm GMT.

On Thursday morning, French consumer spending data for July will be out at 6.45am GMT.

Preliminary Spanish consumer price index data for August will be out at 7am GMT. Year on year, this was last recorded at 0.5%.

Europe-wide consumer confidence data for August will be out at 9am GMT. This will be accompanied by industrial confidence data, which was last recorded at -7.4.

Business climate information for the same month was last recorded at -0.12 and is likely to be watched closely by those who are concerned about the overall performance of the European economy.
